According to IUCN Red list assessment the population of this species faces various threats, however, it is globally increasing. current estimate of its global population is 50,000 mature individuals. The major threats this species faces are oceanic pollution caused by various uncontrolled anthropogenic activities, transportation, fishing and harvest of other marine resource.
