Neofelis nebulosa Griffith, 1821 - Clouded Leopard

Subspecies in India

It is more precisely known as Mainland Clouded Leopard. A previously recognized subspecies diardi is now elevated to have a separate species status and called as Sunda Clouded Leopard (N. diardi).

According to IUCN Red List assessment, the population fo this species is decreasing all over its range. There are no population estimates available for this spcecies. Major threats to its survival come from hunting and trapping, habitat loss due to logging, mining, agricultural expansion etc.
