This is an endemic species, having a restricted distribution only in Arunachal Pradesh. It is an arboreal species found in tall trees especially on Indian Rose Chestnut trees (Mesua ferrea) or along the hilly slopes. It is strictly nocturnal species that perhaps feed on plant material. There is nothing much known about its habits and behaviour.

This species is listed as Critically Endengered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).


According to IUCN Red List assessment, population of this species is decreasing. There are no etsimates of its population available, but it is believed to be quite small and restricted to small pocket of Arunachal Pradesh in Namdapha National Park. Threat to its survival in wild come mainly from habitat fragmentation by logging, agricultural expansion, natural disasters and occasional trapping.
